Spyware is software that is not meant to harm your computer. It will create pathways in someone's computer so that the owner will communicate with that computer. Spyware monitors the types of web sites visited which are later used by web advertisers to allow them to send the user unwanted emails and pop-ups.
Which explains why spyware is to be avoided as it is more intrusive than adware. Spyware has its own executable programs which allows it to record a user's keystrokes, scan files on your computer as well as other applications that you use including chat programs, cookies and Web browser settings.
